RUPA invited Steven, a LEx Leader, to our very last interest meeting of the Spring semester to present to students about leadership. They played the activity True Colors to determine their leadership styles and split off into groups to plan our Traditions & Community event Hot Dog Day. This was one of our many themed interest meetings throughout the school year.
As an Assistant Director of Human Resources, I get to talk about the reasons why I love RUPA constantly. The people I’ve met, events I’ve worked, and memories I’ve gained help shape my time at Rutgers into an experience I feel honored to have. This past October, I designed an Interest Meeting that focused on the massive budget of one of RUPA’s (and Rutgers’) most adored traditions: Hot Dog Day. I led a crowded room through each aspect of budgeting the event, from renting out the street of College Ave, to the cost of each and every hot dog that is given away for free. Every person in the room was shocked to learn the complexity and intricacy of preparing the event, and I think that complexity and intricacy accurately reflects RUPA as a whole. This is a diverse organization of passionate students, aiming to give our peers one more reason to love Rutgers, and part of my job as an AD of HR is to show the Rutgers student body just that. I ❤ RUPA, and I will never stop sharing why you should too.
