Last Friday marked my committee’s last event of the year, our spring semester’s Beats on the Banks ft. Metro Boomin. As the Marketing Assistant Director for Concerts & Coffeehouses, it is my responsibility to assist in the planning, execution, and promotion of music-related campus, including our large-scale concerts and smaller showcases of student musicians. The day of show itself is incredibly rigorous with each councilmember helping the production company (shoutout to GrooveBoston) with either the building or taking down of lighting, sound, and staging equipment, some of us devoting up 17 hours of our day ensuring the show will be a success. Through this process, we follow through with seeing our ideas go from conception to reality.
And when my team and I stood on the balcony with our arms around each other’s shoulders, overlooking the over 1,000 students bopping excitedly to Metro Boomin’s latest hits, we knew all of our hardwork had definitely paid off.
